Israel bans Aust livestock shipmentsThe Federal Government has confirmed that Israel has suspended shipments of livestock from Australia.
Israel took the action after sheep on board the MV Maysora showed signs of minor health problems when they arrived in Israel last month.
The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service is investigating the claims about the health of the sheep.
The executive director of Animals Australia Glenys Oogjes says the ship was also carrying cattle and some died during the voyage.
"They had respiratory problems, lameness problems and other illnesses which meant at least 250 have died," she said.
"And we have video footage and photographs of our cattle being put into pits dead."

Two shipments of livestock were sent to Israel this year and no further consignments have been planned.
