Aust live sheep exports fall
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200701/s1823732.htmLive sheep shipments from eastern Australia to the Middle East have fallen this summer, with fewer ships and sheep available.
Tasmania, which usually supplies about 50,000 sheep to Kuwait, has been by-passed altogether by the trade.
LiveCorp's Peter Stinson says it is bad timing, because many graziers are desperate to sell stock.
"The main customer for the Tasmanian sheep is Kuwait and at the moment the shipping capacity out of Kuwait has been reduced from three ships down to two," Mr Stinson said.
"As there's very few sheep going out of the east, which is unusual for this time of year, the economics of it become a wee bit prohibitive."
