Sadly the video footage also shows just how the Government responds to calls for help for animals in desperate need.
Australia routinely fails the animals they say they protect. The Australian state and Federal governments both claim that animal welfare is a priority but the reality shows a far different story.
Two months ago, November 2008, footage was taken of a sheep farm in Smeaton; Victoria Australia. Dying and dead sheep could clearly be seen. Some sheep were suffering flystrike others perished because of a lack of water. The Department of Primary Industries were called to come to the farm and assist.
Two months later in January 2009, the same team revisit the farm to see what changes have been made. You will soon realise that the state government has done nothing during the two months to ensure the animals do not suffer on this farm. The farmer has also done nothing.
We are sure that scenes like this are echoed all over sheep farms throughout Australia. Animal welfare/animal suffering means absolutely nothing to either the land owners/farmers or the governments.
