New cruelty alleged at Indonesian abattoirs
« Reply #1 on: February 25, 2012, 06:00:41 PM »
24.02 2012 Australian authorities are investigating footage depicting alleged animal welfare breaches at two Indonesian abattoirs.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) said it had received a complaint about animal welfare concerns at the abattoirs on Friday.

The department was reviewing footage which allegedly showed the breaches, department deputy secretary Phillip Glyde said.

The federal government suspended all live cattle exports to Indonesia in June last year, after graphic footage on a Four Corners program showed cattle being abused.

The ban was lifted weeks later after the government was assured the Asian nation would meet Australian standards.
