KUWAIT CITY, June 26: Australia has warned that it would stop exporting its livestock to Kuwait if violations being committed at Al-Taher slaughterhouse in Al-Ahmadi area are not stopped, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Board Chairman and Managing Director of Livestock Transport and Trading Company (LTTC) Bader Al-Jarallah said the Australian Livestock and Meats Authority notified the company that it would stop exporting live Australian cows and sheep to Kuwait or any other country which continues to allow such violations.

The Australian authority listed a number of violations, including the slaughtering of animals on the floor in front of each other and dragging the animals cruelly without considering the health conditions before and after the slaughtering.

Meanwhile, Director of Imported Foods Department at the Kuwait Municipality, Engineer Istiqlal Al-Musallam was recently quoted as saying the Municipality inspectors working at the Al-Nuwaiseeb border post have confiscated 400 kilos of fish imported from a neighboring GCC country, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added the inspectors destroyed the fish after ascertaining it was unfit for human consumption.
