Victorian bushfire leaves 20 sheep dead  9.12.2012
A large bushfire in central Victoria has killed 20 sheep and injured 100 others.
The fire in the Whiteheads Creek area started last night and is contained between Homeward and Kobyboyn Roads.
The fire threatened 20 homes and burnt around 1,800-hectares. It has also destroyed a 250-hectare blue gum plantation.
"No properties have been affected but sadly there have been reports of livestock loss," the Country Fire Association said in a statement.
"The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage."
Fire crews are being supported by aircraft, bulldozers and graders to battle the blaze, which they predict will take three days to completely extinguish.
