All Fremantle Port live export animal observers to be denied access to the port.

Information just released that due to security concerns about repeated illegal access of the port area and live export ships, no members of the public or previously authorised independent observers will be allowed to monitor the welfare of live exports from the Port of Fremantle.

This means groups who have been attending loadings of animals for over 10 years and the vets who also attended in the capacity of independent observers will no longer be permitted to be present.

It appears that even though the live animal export industry claims to be transparent and accountable, they have been successful with their efforts in applying sufficient pressure to the Port Authority to have these groups removed.
