And not a word about the suffering of sheep who burnt to death...just their value.

Is it any wonder we hate this industry.

200 sheep killed in Mitchell Highway blaze near Bourke

2.8.2013

Hundreds of sheep have been killed in a truck fire near Bourke.

At around 6:00pm (AEST) last night the driver noticed a fire in the trailer and pulled over on the Mitchell Highway, about 25 kilometres north of Byrock.

He got out of the truck, but it was engulfed in flames and 200 of the 400 sheep on board were killed.

Police say it is believed overheated bearings sparked the blaze.

The highway was closed until around midnight while emergency services cleaned up the scene.

The loss of the trailer and stock is estimated to have cost around $95,000.
