Cruelty charges laid over animal starvation, deaths
« Reply #1 on: September 23, 2013, 05:06:18 PM »
A Gunning man who allegedly starved his stock to the point of death has been charged with more than 80 animal cruelty offences.

The charges follow a number of inspections at the property where police officers, RSPCA staff and a Livestock Health and Pest Authorities veterinarian found a large number of dead sheep and lambs.

A number of sheep also had to be put down following the inspections, which took place between August 20 and September 10.

The 41-year-old man was arrested at Yass Police Station on Thursday, charged with 83 offences including aggravated cruelty to an animal, not supply an animal sufficient feed and failure to supply proper supervision to an animal.

He was bailed to appear at Yass Local Court on December 3, when police will allege the animals had been neglected and not provided with sufficient food.
