THE documentary which led to Australia's live cattle trade to Indonesia being temporarily suspended won a Logie.

Four Corners’ Sarah Ferguson won the award for outstanding public affairs report for A Bloody Business last night at the awards in Melbourne.

The ABC team won the Gold Walkley Award last year for the same report.

The report detailed the journey of cattle from northern Australia on to ships and their slaughter to Indonesia.

The program showed horrific footage inside abattoirs including unnecessary cruelty which shocked viewers and sparked a strong campaign from animal rights groups including Animals Australia and the RSPCA calling for the trade to be stopped.

The Federal Government reopened the trade after a four-week ban and put in place a framework which makes exporters responsible for the welfare of animals sent for slaughter.
