Sheep cull remains on hold as fresh tests ordered. The West Australian company which exported the sheep that were brutally slaughtered in Pakistan says the remaining animals are being well cared for.

Wellard exported 21-thousand sheep to Bahrain, but they were rejected over claims of infection.

The sheep were then sent on to Karachi where they were again deemed to be infected.

Almost half were slaughtered before the owners PK Livestock obained a court order halting the cull.

The matter is now before the Sindhd High Court which has ordered independent tests be carried out on the animals.

It has adjourned the case until mid-October.

Wellard says in the meantime, the animals are being well fed and watered.
