Francisaís petition fights the cruel live export trade
Bellingen's Francisa Miller, Australian National karate champion, is not one to back away from a cause that she believes to be just and worth fighting for.

Appalled at the images on the news and reports in the press of sheep being mistreated, stabbed and buried alive in Pakistan, she has taken up the fight against such cruelty.

( weeks ago she embarked on a mission to collect 1,000 signatures on a petition to ban live export, and have it presented by Animals Australia to parliament.

To achieve her goal and create public awareness along the way, she has thrown herself into markets stalls, media awareness campaigns and visited local MP Luke Hartsuyker, who has made representations on her behalf to Shadow Minister for Agriculture John Cobb.

Francisa is normally an animal rights advocate and out there fighting hard for the cause. But on this occasion there was a meeting of two causes.

One was the cruelty to animals aspect and the other was the exportation of jobs offshore that would normally be carried out by Australian workers.

If you havenít signed the petition yet, and you would like to, get along to the Bellingen River Festival on Saturday, November 3, at the story telling tent to meet Francisa and to add your support.
