The investigator for Animals' Angels put his boot into the river of excreta to demonstrate what the animals are forced to live in for the entire voyage. The mixture of faeces and urine releases ammonia fumes when moist, (especially when the ship is in areas of high humidity,) and becomes unbearable affecting both animals and humans. The trough to the left of the photo is similar in colour to that of the excreta! |
